Gemma is a Chartered Legal Executive and an Accredited Police Station Representative, having graduated from the University of Kent in 2017 with a Bachelors in Laws with Upper Second Class Honours, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, specialising in criminal law.
​
Gemma has experience in criminal law, starting her career in criminal defence in 2011. Gemma deals dealing with all manner of offences including murder, serious sexual offences, violent offences, public order and drug offences.
​
She has experience in representing clients in the police station and preparing trials in both the Magistrates and Crown Court. Gemma also assists clients in applying for bail, variations for bail and variation of court orders. She has a meticulous approach when preparing cases so that she is able to achieve the best possible result for her clients.
​
Gemma has a growing expertise in the law surrounding making representations to the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS), the police and other associations, which can affect clients’ right to work.
​
Gemma has a keen passion for access to justice. She has written numerous articles about the demise of legal aid in publications such as Justice Gap, Legal Voice and the Solicitors Journal. She has also been interviewed by both Sky News and BBC Radio 1 regarding the cuts to legal aid.
​
Gemma also founded Women in Law Kent, which is a support and social network for professionals and students within the legal field throughout Kent, with the view to promote equality within law, whilst encouraging and inspiring the next generation of lawyers.
